Functions of vitamin B give some contributions to our health. There are a large number functions of vitamin B where all of one is essential for a number of different processes. Each of the vitamin B is needed to keep all of the body functions performing properly. Without sufficient the vitamin B the blood supply would not be healthy and this leads to a variety of illnesses and diseases. Not only the brain that needs the vitamin B, to function correctly, but also the heart, to stay healthy. In fact, just about every organ and process within the body requires at least one form of the functions of vitamin B.

Vitamin B1, or Thiamin, is the vitamin B that the body needs to keep all of its cells, especially the nerves, functioning correctly. As one of the functions of vitamin B, thiamin is especially important for memory and general mental health and is one of the vitamin B that is required to convert food into energy.

Vitamin B2, or Riboflavin, is the vitamin B that is essential for releasing the enrgy from food that has been consumed. Refering to the functions of vitamin B, without the riboflavin the body cannot grow or develop properly as red blood cells will not be as healthy as they should be.

Vitamin B3, or Niacin, is also taking one of the functions of vitamin B that is involved in over fifty processes, ranging from detoxifying chemicals to making hormones and releasing energy from food.

Vitamin B5, or Pantothenic acid, works with several other functions of vitamin B for a number of essential processes including breaking down fats, proteins, and carbohydrates into energy and is also the vitamin B that is needed to form vitamin D, a variety of hormones, and red blood cells.

Vitamin B6, or Pyridoxine, the vitamin B that is largely responsible for redistributing the amino acids to create over five thousand proteins that are needed by the body and is also doing one of functions of vitamin B needed to form various enzymes.

Vitamin B7, or Biotin, is one of the vitamin B that is involved in a number of processes within the body, including the breaking down of fats, carbohydrates and proteins into useable energy forms.

Vitamin B9, or Folic acid, in the functions of vitamin B is the essential for aiding in cell growth and division, especially during pregnancy. This vitamin B is also necessary to make natural chemicals which control the appetite, moods and quality of sleep. It is also the best vitamin B for helping lower the chances of suffering a heart attack or stroke by keeping the arteries open.

Vitamin B12, or Cobalamin, in the functions of vitamin B is important in the process of converting the carbohydrates, proteins, and fats into energy. This vitamin B is also vital in forming the protective covering of nerve cells and to keep red blood cells healthy, and help prevent heart disease.

It was previously thought about the functions of vitamin B as a single nutrient, but later studies proved that it was actually eight different nutrients that made up this "single" vitamin. Vitamin B was once thought to be a single nutrient that existed in extracts of rice, liver, or yeast. However, no one health function requires the properties of every vitamin B.
